Bassoon Summer Camps
Brooke Valley Bassoon
August 10-16, 2026 | Otty Lake, Ontario
Run by Richard Hoenich and Jo Ann Simpson, Brooke Valley Bassoon Days is hosted at Camp Shomria. Camp Shomria is located one hour from Ottawa and halfway between Toronto and Montreal. Participants will have the opportunity to receive private lessons from amazing faculty, attend and participate in masterclasses, make reeds, and participate in large and small ensembles. Players of all abilities and all ages are welcome to attend.
BVBD also has the program The Baroque Experience: Historical Bassoons @ BVBD. Participants will be able to attend a series of masterclasses devoted to historical bassoon and information related to early music performance.
Participants can choose to participate in the modern bassoon program or the baroque bassoon program or they can participate in both!

Rusty Musicians: Summer Camp
July 8-12, 2026 | Edmonton, Alberta
For five days, adult musicians will have the opportunity to come together, play, rehearse, learn and connect in a fun environment at the beautiful Winspear Centre. Attendees will receive instruction from members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
Tune Up! HPYO Summer Intensive Program
August 18-21, 2026 | Hamilton, Ontario
Tune Up! is the perfect opportunity for young musicians to try the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. It is open to any player 11 years and older with 3 or more years of experience on an orchestral instrument. Participants will have the opportunity to experience wellness workshops, full orchestra rehearsals and sectionals led by musicians from the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Squawk Camp
June 9-15, 2026 | Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Run by Erin Brophey, Squawk Camp gives participants the opportunity to receive private lessons and ensemble coaching, and attend reed making workshops. The faculty includes Melissa Tremblay, Stephanie Unverricht, and Erin Brophey.
Summer Intensive Program: Baroque
July 10-17, 2026 | Victoria, British Columbia
Presented by Victoria Baroque and Early Music Vancouver, this intensive training program allows individuals to immerse themselves in baroque performance on period instruments. Participants will have the opportunity to play in chamber music ensembles, attend private and group lessons, lectures, masterclasses and have a variety of performance opportunities.
Summer Band Camp: Winds, Brass And Percussion
July 6-10, 2026 | Vancouver, British Columbia
Mentored by VSO School of Music Faculty students will have the opportunity to play and attend large ensemble rehearsals, participate in masterclasses, sectionals, workshops, and put on a final performance at ANNEX.

This list includes a variety of programs from Victoria, British Columbia to Otty Lake, Ontario. Music summer camps are a great opportunity to connect with the larger double reed community, the classical music community in Canada, and push individuals to grow as musicians.
